maine vacation ~ tidal falls

Not far from our cottage, there was a place called Tidal Falls which is owned and cared for by the Frenchman's Bay Conservancy. The area looks out to a point where the water reverses direction depending on which way the tide is coming in. During the summer months, there are free concerts held at this spot every Monday night. At low tide, the water goes out enough that you can walk out on the rocks and see the starfish and crabs that remained in the tide pools. The starfish were our favorite.

Owen was really good at finding the starfish among the rocks...
but he never really wanted to touch one.

Ivy didn't mind touching one but definitely not for too long though. She said that the starfish felt very rough.

Levi had his own opinions about the starfish, too.
Nathan even found a treasure here that he had to fish out of the water. I thought he was definitely going to fall in trying to get his big find, but he proved me wrong.
The Tidal Falls also had a lot of picnic tables here that would have made a great place for a picnic and lots of space for the kids to run around.
It was also a great spot to snag a few more photos.
