Cadillac Mountain was equally as beautiful to visit. The mountain is 1,530 feet high and is the highest point on Mount Desert Island. An interesting bit of information...from early October to early March of every year, Cadillac Mountain is the first place to view a sunrise in the United States. You can see almost a 360-degree view of the Acadia National Park and its surrounding area when on top of Cadillac Mountain. The view is memorable!
Our first day up Cadillac Mountain was full of fog where you could not see a thing! So, we went back a few days later. First, we ate our picnic lunch on the mountainside. (It's not everyday that you get to eat sandwiches with a view like we had! So pretty!)
Then, we strolled around the top of the mountain. There was a really nice walking path that made a big loop around the top so you got to see some pretty spectacular views of the Porcupine Islands, the Cranberry Islands, Bar Island, the Schoodic Peninsula, Bar Harbor, and the Atlantic Ocean.
We even got to do a couple of letterboxes here at Cadillac Mountain.
If we go back to the Bar Harbor area again, Cadillac Mountain will be a must-do and must-see!
