advent day #18 - PARTY!!!

Our couples small group Christmas party was today's activity. What a CRAZY busy but FUN day! Nathan and I spent most of the day preparing for the party with our kids helping out in any way that they could. We have such GREAT kids...have I ever told you that? :-)

Four of the couples and their families joined us for an afternoon/evening of food, fellowship, and fun, while two of the couples from the small group were not able to come. We had delicious meat and vegetable lasagnas complete with garlic bread, a "Sarah salad" (only the BEST kind of salad ever), and beans for dinner and some very yummy desserts to eat.

The adults got to chat with one another...

while the kids played with the toys...

and games!

A party isn't complete without getting the game of Perfection out, and Nathan challenging anyone who dares to compete against him!

Battleship is also a favorite...especially with Caleb who ALWAYS seems to win! (He just needs to play Mr. Nate to see who is the ultimate winner though!)

We also had some guessing games where adults and kids had to guess how many M&M's and marshmallows (big and small and total) were in the jar. (Sorry, no pictures of those - I totally forgot!) We were blessed by a lady from a Christian book store we visited while in Pennsylvania who felt compelled to give us 4 CD's for FREE, so, of course, we had to use them for the prizes! Why not share in God's goodness? :-)

We have been so thankful for our couples' small group Bible study over these past few months and have enjoyed getting to know these couples even more and for everyone's willingness to open up and share their feelings, thoughts, revelations, experiences, and struggles we face as couples as we rely on the Lord and grow together in our marriages. We're so glad that we got to share this evening with them as well! Merry Christmas!

And in the same region there were shepherds out in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night...And the angel said to them, "Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. And this will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in swaddling cloths and lying in a manger." ~Luke 2:8, 10-12
