advent day #14 - snowflakes

For today's activity, we made paper snowflakes to turn our home into a winter wonderland! We folded and cut paper coffee filters into different designs to make some very unique snowflakes.

While we were making our creations, Owen and Letty were having some fun of their own. Owen was, of course, playing with the nativity figurines.

Letty was enjoying reading...

and playing with...

and eating her book.

They also enjoyed some time playing nicely together as well.

Since we ran out of time tonight, we planned to hang the snowflakes tomorrow. In Daddy's absence, we hung the snowflakes from the ceiling in the living room (using scotch tape - hopefully, the tape comes off, and I don't have to repaint the ceiling once they come down like Daddy says I'll have to do :) ).

Ivy also hung some of them on the walls of the dining room...

and on the door frame.

We'll have a white Christmas whether it snows for real or not!

Today was also Grandma O.'s birthday. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, GRANDMA (MOM)! Or, as Ivy said on Papa and Grandma's answering machine, "Merry Birthday! Amen." :o)

After spending some time reading Old Testament prophesies of Jesus' birth, we are now starting to read about Jesus' birth in the book of Luke.

"And the angel said to her, 'Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. And the Lord God will give to him the throne of his father David, and he will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of his kingdom there will be no end.' ...And Mary said, 'Behold, I am the servant of the Lord; let it be to me according to your word.'" ~Luke 1:30-33, 38
