ketchup dipper

The timing just did not work out for a dinner at home tonight. We were out running errands leading us to a dinner time around 7-7:30 if we ate at home which would certainly not be a good thing for a husband who becomes a bear the second he becomes hungry, for a pregnant wife, and for 2 little kids who only have a concept of once they're hungry, they're hungry SO we decided to splurge tonight and go out to one of Ivy's "special treat" places - Old McDonald's (which was actually Burger King - the real McDonald's is actually called Grammy Lou's Old McDonald's around here...don't ask me why for as far as we know she has never been to McDonald's with Grammy Lou)! :-)

As we were eating at Old McDonald's (aka Burger King), Daddy and I were both dipping our French fries into ketchup before we ate them. (Doesn't every American do that?) Well, little did we know, Owen was paying attention to our routine and decided he was going to become an American and an official ketchup dipper tonight. It was so cute watching our little guy, who's only 14 months old, dip his little French fries into ketchup, and I must say he was really good at it with NO MESS! (That's huge as Owen ALWAYS makes a mess!)

Owen has provided yet another lesson to us that our kids (or any kid OR ANYONE, for that matter) watch our every move and imitate what we do. Our challenge: Are my actions and words worth being watched and imitated by my kids? OR a greater challenge: Do I watch and imitate my Father's actions and words? Is my Father pleased with my actions and words? Are my actions and words reflecting those of Christ?

"And whatsoever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him."
~Colossians 3:17 (ESV)

Isn't it amazing how the Lord uses our children to teach us important things? I love it! Thanks for the challenge!
